My banks Bill Pay window will not open. In Google Chrome a window came up that says I needed to unblock Pop Ups, which I did and Bill Pay appeared. In Safari, when attempting to go to Bill Pay on my banks website this message pops up…

‘Why can't I access Bill Pay?

You might have cookies blocked or cross-site tracking prevented. Depending on what browser you're using, check your settings for these terms:
  • Block third party cookies

  • Cross-site tracking
Make sure cookies are not blocked and cross-site tracking is enabled. Follow any additional instructions in your browser once you have adjusted these settings.’

In Settings-> Safari, I switched off Block All Cookies and Block Pop-ups. Anyone else having this problem with iOS 18?

I work for a bank and I had my first one of this situation reported yesterday. I am unable to recreate this, but I have already moved to 18.1. She sent screenshots and they matched my setup so shouldnt be having an issue. From your message sounds like your bank uses checkfreeweb.com as well. She is adamant it is our issue to resolve, but I did find one other mention of this occurring on Apple Community.

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. Not sure if my bank is using checkfreeweb.com. since iOS is new could the banks software not be updated to use it yet? Or, I think I remember having this same problem with my bank when I updated to iOS 17, but I’m pretty sure is was a simple unblock Prevent Pop-ups fix as in Chrome, dunno. At least I can use another browser until a solution comes along. Thanks again.

Well it shouldn’t be an issue, I am more likely to believe this is some type of bug that showed up.

My setting matched my customer and the other posts on Apple community matched, but had issues. If mine matched hers and I wasn’t having an issue it’s something else. I remember when cross-site tracking rolled out that caused actual issues and there was some type of convoluted instructions that had to be performed to work around it until Chrckfree implemented a fix.

I’d just go into your site data and see if CheckFree web shows up. Is your bank website? Something I can to retailapps.com? That is RURL for our cloud hosted on Link banking product

maybe its something to do with 'limit IP address tracking' being switched on?
if it is, then you don't have to turn it off completely, you can just select the option in safari to 'show ip address' when you're at that page

Is your issue on an iPad? I just got notification of a second customer at our Bank using an iPad on iOS 18. So far, I have not received any communications about any iPhones having the issue.

Safari settings, turn off prevent cross site tracking and see if it works. First post says to turn it on but I’ve seen other forums saying to turn it off.

No, everyone’s tried that I troubleshoot these on a daily basis and the customer that I am working with has it turned off and so do I?

Right, but post 1 says to enable it when it shouldn’t be.

Make sure cookies are not blocked and cross-site tracking is enabled. Follow any additional instructions in your browser once you have adjusted these settings.

Just double checked my Safari Settings, I currently have Block Pop-ups = Disabled, Prevent Cross-Site Tracking = Disabled and under Advanced, Block All Cookies = Disabled, and still unable to open Bill Pay in Safari, no problem in Chrome On iOS (interestingly with Block Pop-ups = On).

There's also an 'Advanced Tracking and Fingerprinting Protection' setting. I believe that one is defaulted to 'Private Browsing', but check to see if it's set to 'All Browsing'. Try changing that if it is.

Something else to check would be the Feature Flags in Safari settings. There's a ton of them. I don't know which one could be causing the issue (if any), but there are some things pertaining to cookies and tracking. I suppose you could scroll all the way to the bottom to reset them to the defaults to see if that helps anything. @linuxidiot81, do you see anything toggled differently here between your device and your son's?

Have you tried requesting the desktop website (...or the mobile website if that one shows up instead)? Or clearing your history and website data to clear out your cookies and starting from scratch?

FIXED:

On my iPad Pro, Settings->Safari->Request Desktop Website->All Websites->DISABLE. Then on my banks website when I clicked on Bill Pay this time I got a request to check if Pop-ups was enabled so back to Settings->Safari and Block Pop-ups was now re-enabled, disabled Block Pop-ups and Bill Pay appeared. Thanks!

Our vendor just replied with a simple "people on iOS 18 cant access Bill Pay and we are looking into it." This makes it seem like it would affect all of our customers, but I am able to access it without issue on my iPhone. With the way our website works, it uses a frame to impose the Bill Pay interface. If you use our website using the mobile version it opens Bill Pay in a new tab, but it is antiquated and you do not have access to the same features. Did yours look normal or did it open a new tab and then not look how it should?

You’re right, it opens a separate tab and it did not look as it used to. At first I was concerned it was hacked but the address looked legit so I continued. Though functional it appeared antiquated and with less features.

Yea you must be on the same vendor as we are. I’ll watch our vendor for them to create a workaround or actually post a fix. Then I will let you know to give it a try.

I wanted to provide an update. So far vendor is still researching, but just as a test I took my son’s iPad on 17.6 and confirmed it working. I then installed 18 and it stopped working. When I then installed 18.1 it started working again.

I am not an expert on troubleshooting operating systems but that would make me think it was Apple that fixed an issue that they discovered in 18.0
