Hello

Im not sure what to do. I finally upgraded my old 2009 iMac to the new iMac M4 base model 16gb and you would think it would be lightning faster than my old 2009 and yet it is taking a almost a minute to load pictures on amazon when I was doing some xmas shopping . I was expecting it to be way faster...

The only info that I moved to my new Mac was email contacts and some drive docs and that's it. I did not want any old stuff.

I down loaded sequoia 15.1.1 because it did not have the latest version, you would think it would .....

and it says I have used 34.13 gb of 245.11 gb already can this be right ? Could I have a lemon or problem with hard drive Ive only had it for a week and I wondering if I should call apple and get them to send me a new one , I would love some help on this as im not very tech savvy when it comes to this sort of thing. I planned on having this iMac for many years like my old one and can't afford to have a lemon .

thx

This definitely doesn't sound right, and if your old computer was faster then it sounds like there's something wrong with the new one.

If you bought directly from Apple then I believe you get a 2-week "no questions asked" return window. I'd take advantage of that and get a replacement.

Seems pretty modest to me.

Just Amazon -if so, blame amazon. If it is a problem on all web sites, that needs investigation - talk to Apple Support.

If you do return it, please upgrade to 512GB. Yo will come to regret 256GB unless you remain a low pressure user or are expecting to add an external SSD for your data.

Your concern is based on a very limited test - using Amazon. I would advise doing some basic tests such as running a speed test to measure the upload and download speeds on your internet connection.

And I agree with the previous post - 34 GB for the OS and other overhead is not an issue. 512 GB storage would be a good choice if you end up re-ordering.

Sounds like it could be an Internet throughput issue. If you're using wifi, ensure that the mini isn't in an area where it'll get interference & make sure your router is updated with the latest firmware so that the mini's wifi chipset can communicate effectively.
