Updates possible without credit card info?

In the hopes of deterring myself from spending too much on the AppStore, I was thinking that I could just delete my credit card info from iTunes, and only buy iTunes giftcards when I know I've got extra money. But before doing that, I'd need to know that I could still get updates for the apps I've got.

So updates possible still if Apple doesn't have my credit card info?
