Okay I'm really wanting to try Big Sur on my 2018 Mac mini. I'm making a TM backup as we speak just in case it all goes wrong. I should have had a TM backup going a long time ago but this was motivation to get my system properly setup anyways.

The problem is I have a Razer Core V1 as my eGPU. This is an older version that came out before the Core X and is not fully compatible with Macs. I had to disable secure boot and SIP then install something from the terminal but I can't remember exactly what now... I should have saved it in a note. It pops up whenever there is a Catalina update saying it needs to download an update but do you think this will carry over to Big Sur?

Has anyone here got a Razer Core V1 to work with Big Sur? Worst case scenario and it doesn't work I'm guessing my TM backup will let me go back to Catalina? Is there a time limit on this where the system will not accept an older version of the OS?

If anyone wants to update it does work. The update froze at "Less than a minute remaining..." so I had to hold the power button. I'm guessing it finished and got hung up on the restart command because when I powered it back on it booted right into Big Sur. Of course I had the monitor directly hooked up to the mini to configure everything at that point.

It re enabled SIP so that has to be disabled. Secure boot stayed disabled. Something called Authenticated Root must be disabled. I'm guessing this is new to Big Sur.
