Hey,

i Bought an unlocked iPhone from ebay in december and when it arrived it came with a note telling me that i was not able to update it and that the 1.1.2 version i have on it now is stable enough to keep.

a couple of weeks ago i noticed an update for the iphone which i now want and was wondering how i updated my phone?? do i need to put a hack on it or somthing before i update via itunes?

also what will happen if i just update it via itunes without doing anything to it?

Thanks

Jon

the guy probably meant that installing updates would remove the hack - which is true.

Download the 1.1.4 firmware from Apple, and get ZiPhone (google it). Then, connect your iPhone and hold Alt as you press Restore on iTunes. Select the 1.1.4 firmware you downloaded and click OK.

Then, after that is done, fire up ZiPhone and click "Do It All". 4 mins later, your iPhone will have the latest firmware and be jailbroken. Provided you backed up your iPhone (it does so automatically), the next time you sync it your settings, songs etc. will be put back on.

Enjoy :)

thanks OS x Dude..Ziphone worked great...so fast and easy. i lost all my numbers tho. lol

Thanks for the help

No worries - ZiPhone is great contrary to what most people say. I'm not updating until version 2.0 of the OS comes out. Shouldn't have lost your numbers id you backed up tho..... that's thrown me a bit lol.

I get really concerned when people use ziphone because it is dangerous to use.

It does work and I'm not disputing that but the method it uses is very risky compared to other unlocking options and if it goes wrong it will break your phone beyond repair.

Even if you think of has worked there are even cases of the phone just dying after a few weeks. So really the main thing is one of why you would risk your expensive iPhone when you dont need to?

i had no idea it was soo dangerous...what other option is their apart from ZiPhone??

Whats the ILiberty? and is this safe? and also i was looking into the iPwnage but it appears it is only at beta stage for pc so i wouldnt want to risk it really.

thanks

None are simpler than ZiPhone IMO - you know how to use that so stick to what you know.

It's personal preference, but ZiPhone was one of the first (if not the) to crack 1.1.4 - personally, I love it. I updated my jailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch with it earlier today and both went w/o a hitch.

People who are saying ZiPhone is bad have probably never used it and are echoing the sentiments of those who have had poor experiences with it to sound like they know what they're on about. Tbh, all jailbreaking processes are as risky as each other.

Unless you modify the bootloader - which isn't something I would do. Leave that mother alone!!!
