Me, personally? I would return it and purchase direct from Apple with a warranty that actually starts from the time you made the purchase. It eliminates any confusion and you work with Apple directly. You purchased a product that already has two months of warranty that you’re not receiving. Now, is that a big deal? Probably not, but it’s the principle behind the matter.
Thanks. This kinda echos my thoughts although I would likely insist on a replacement from Amazon as they are much better at accepting returns if there's an issue down the line.
It's not so much the two months of warranty that I have an issue with, but the fact I can't buy AppleCare+.
So did Amazon advertise it as “new” or open box (or whatever)? All my various Apple products I ever owned started their warranty from activation and yours apparently was activated in Dec.
While Apple might end up selling you AC+, you did NOT receive a NEW product. If that is what you thought you were buying, return it. Was it sold by Amazon directly or from one of their partners? Might want to take it up with Amazon.
So, apparently, when I purchased the MacBook Pro from Amazon, I had purchased an 'Amazon Warehouse' deal which was 'Used - Like New'. The description on the listing was 'Item is in original packaging, but packaging has damage.'.
I have spoken to Amazon as I don't feel that the above description was a fair representation of an item that was clearly a customer return and therefore had 2 months of warranty less than a new product would have, so it should not have been sold as 'Used-Like New'.
Amazon have agreed and have offered me a £250 refund to keep the laptop making it £1,500 (£400 off retail), however, I am still going to try and get Apple to update the warranty or at least sell me AppleCare+.
The fact that Amazon have offered a £250 refund though is making it a tough decision as to whether to keep it or return it if Apple don't agree to amend the warranty.
