updating OTA by not signed iOS

what will happen if you have downloaded for example ios 11.2.2 but will not install. And in march you will try to install it OTA, but it will not be signed anymore? Has iOS some control to not happen this case?

I use last iOS but it is family member, who doesn’t want install it (I see it as laziness). And I wanted to know, what happen if she will wait too long.
