Updating the software

I have a question. Do you risk to mess the update (for example to 10.8.5) if you do it without power supply, even if you have 90% of battery?

I mean, does the power calibrate the update or something or it's the same?

Software Update will stop & ask/tell you to use the external power.

If you go ahead and run software update and somehow the battery runs down you can wind up with a real mess.
