Updating to 2.1.error..now in recovery mode and stuck

Hi,

I am having some trouble. I went to update my phone and there was an error code 1604 and it said it couldn't be updated....then my phone basically went into recovery mode.

I plugged it back in and said it needed to restore the phone.....but it won't. It keeps failing at the restore...so I am stuck.

Anyone know how to handle this?

I have honestly been having trouble with my phone...the first day I got it it died and would not respond at all...held down power and home and nothing...the AT+T store got it working by doing the same thing for 2 minutes.

Sometimes it doesn't wake from sleep and this week, I drained my battery to almost 0% and when I plugged it in to charge...a battery screen came up and it never charged....I finally got it to respond to reset after 5 hours of trying....so am wondering if my hardware is just messed up.

Problem is all these things are intermittent and they prly won't believe me at the Genius Bar and they prly will find a way to fix this situation where I am stuck in recovery.....

Do you have AVG anti virus on your computer? If so disable it then try again. I have never, since the original iphone been able to upgrade my phone without errors like yours. Last night I disabled AVG and it worked perfectly.

I don't think we have any anti-virus software on our Mac...but I will find out...

I finally did get it to come out of recovery mode by just attempting over and over again to restore...took 4 times to finally take...I'm just concerned that I am having a lot of really weird power issues....the not charging thing and not waking up from sleep.....I'm just really worried that it will croak at a very bad time....
