iPhone Updating to iOS 6.0.1 for iPHONE 3Gs

Hi All gurus, techs and hackers,

Need some urgent advise towards updating ios 6.0.1 for iphone 3gs as the title.

current config -
Apple iPhone 3Gs 16gb
Serial 86017A4A3**
IMEI 01 2154002196***
Firmware 05.12.01
OS version 4.1 8B117
MODEL MC132X

and i'm trying to update to the near-latest 6.0.1.
it would be easier if i were to ask if there were step by step instructions, and if you could lead me through it would be way awesome.

i downloaded the ori ipsw from apple, then used snowbreeze to patch it to preserve baseband, but when i use itunes to restore, i get error 1604 or 10 or 1601 (i checked cables etc and it restores fine to 4.1 so why wouldn't it work for ios 6)

i read somewhere it needs a higher baseband than the one i have to upgrade to ios6?

when i used redsnow, to install ipad baseband, it says 3GS built during/after 34th week of 2011 will brick if ipad baseband is installed.

what should i do please?

Do you have the SHSH blobs for that 3Gs for iOS 6.0.1? If you don't, you won't be able to restore to iOS 6.0.1.

Why don't you go to the latest 6.1?
There's an untethered jb available for it.
Use redsnow to preserve the baseband.

i do have the shsh blobs as they were retrieved through tiny umbrella for the device, but when

i use redsnow, either using custom ipsw or restore,

i see it retrieving from server (assuming it's from cydia online or some repository)

but then after it claims to EXPLOIT the device (in pwned DFU mode) etc,

awaits a reboot, and then the reboot on the iphone doesn't happen,

it doesn't convert from pwned DFU mode to RECOVERY MODE, and

the redsnow application just states : exploit failed or recovery mode not available, device is in dfu mode

any ideas?

originally i too thought it was an issue with the shsh blobs, but the shsh blobs are available. i don't have shsh blobs for 6.1 ...

6.1 is the latest ios version for the 3GS and apple is still releasing 6.1 blobs. So go grab them.
Use Tinyumbrella to pull the 6.1 shsh blobs and then use redsnow to restore to custom 6.1

how do i grab them? i loaded up tiny umbrella, but they are not there. in fact the original 4.1 and 6.01 shsh blobs weren't showing up either (lucky i saved them in a usb drive separately)

did i do something wrong ?
