I used to use Mojave. I just updated straight to Monterey yesterday. Now I'm finding my Reminders app has absolutely zero reminders in it. All of them are gone. I used to have yearly, monthly, weekly, and even daily reminders all set up very carefully in the app, but this update seems to have erased them. Does anyone know why? And if there's a way to get them back?

Edit: I forgot to say this. After performing the update, I signed out of iCloud, since I never use it. I never knowingly uploaded or downloaded stuff from it. But is it possible signing out of iCloud is what caused my reminders to vanish?

Reminders are synced to iCloud, so that could be why they disappeared (from you signing out). Do they still show up at iCloud.com? If so, just sign back in again on the Mac.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I just checked iCould.com, and yes, my reminders appear there. In that case, I have a new question. Is there a way I can sign out of iCloud on my Macbook Pro without my reminders disappearing with it?

Rather than sign out of iCloud, go to System Settings -> iCloud and switch off "Reminders". It should ask if you want to keep your Reminders locally on the computer. Say yes.

I suggest keeping iCloud on, though. Syncing your Reminders and Notes and such to the cloud doesn't cost you anything (the storage will be much less than 5GB) and serves as a backup in case your hardware dies. There's basically no "cost" to keeping it on, so why not?

I suppose it can't hurt. But the reason I turned it off was because it kept pestering me about things like 2FA.
