Hello all...

How well would El Cap run with a 2009 MBP with 120 GB SDD? This computer is my secondary machine that is really only used for basic web-browsing and occasional web development...

How would the age of this computer affect the performance?

Thanks!

You won't get the full advertised speed of the SSD because that MacBook uses the older and slower SATA II interface, but it will still be a big improvement and very noticeable.

I put a SSD in my nieces 2008 MacBook and it was quite a noticeable improvement.

Agree with Weaselboy above.

An SSD will breathe new life into the old MacBook.

But -- you don't need to spend extra for a "top model" SSD because ALL SSD's you buy will operate at only SATA II speeds anyway.

So -- something like a Sandisk "SSD Plus" or basic Crucial model will do all that you need.
You can probably find a 120gb model in the $40 price range on amazon.

Use ifixit.com for the guide on "doing the swap", and BE SURE to buy and use the right tools for the job...
