MacBook Pro 16" with i9 2.4GHz and 32GB RAM running Big Sur 11.1.

I am running Xcode 12.3 and the update to 12.4 appeared last week in the App Store so tried to update. It takes forever to go through the motions, then when almost at the end the MacBook freezes, there is a loud but quick burst of the internal fans, and then it restarts.

Tried several times, and same each time. Everything else seems to work fine and have done software updates, installs and uninstalls for other products fine.

Has anyone else had any issues or have any recommendations on what to try?

Can you download it outside the App Store? I tried looking for an actual download of 12.4 and couldn't find anything.

I have a dev account so can get the 12.5 beta but I'm not a fan of running beta on my main system.
