I have an early 2008 Mac pro, 6gb ram800mhz, 2 x 2.8 quad core xeons, 512mb 9800gt, 500gb hdd, 1tb hdd.

Do you think i should upgrade my ram and video card or purchase the new 27iMac?

I work with digital painting, cinema 4d and after effects. Not really a gamer but maybe once in a while.

Thanks

correct me if I am wrong but isn't my ram mhz and cpu's lacking severely vs the currenty i7 iMac?

I have merged your two threads into one and moved this to the Mac Pro forum because I suspect you will be able to get better help here.

I think upgrading RAM would definitely be worth it and maybe an SSD as well but I'm not very familiar with the apps you use so I can't really say is your GPU sufficient or not. Looks like we will see new Mac Pros very soon so at least wait for that.

Yep, several rumors are pointing to a very soon refresh. Waiting for new models before taking a decision looks like the best move.
