I use my 12 core 7,1 for software development and photography (Photoshop 2020).
Is there any real advantage to upgrade from the 580x module to something like a 5700?
I have Installed the 5700XT it does faster when driving 4K mon
yes, a lot better on playback and exportDo you notice the improvement for video editing in FCPX with the 5700xt? I also have the 580x and I am thinking of updating
Lightroom only recognise the cards that you plug in the monitorFor those that upgraded to 5700XT, how was the initial fit?
I purchased a XFX Force Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC III as B&H had it on sale. Clock was also slightly faster than Gigabyte Aorus mentioned here before - (1810 MHz Core - Boostable to 2025 MHz vs 1770 MHz Core - Boostable to 2010 MHz).
Card barely fit to the slot 3. By barely, I mean I had to force it a little, as the end of the card is slightly to long and "deforms" the fan assembly by about 1/8" No issues with running fans though. I could fit it into slot 2 but I wanted to keep the 580X in the system for now. Slot 4 was a no go.
Even though Compute Geekbench score jumped from:
- OpenCL - 40451 to 59198 (580X vs 5700XT)
- Metal - 43777 to 49608
Geekbench lists Maximum Frequency as 875 MHz for 5700XT but 1.20 GHz for 580X
Is this a glitch to is there a setting that must be turned on?
With quick and simple testing, I see some (roughly 40%) improvement in FCPX (stabilization, noise correction, export to h.264).
As for Lightroom, with both cards installed, I can only select 580X. Not sure why? (Display is not connected to 5700XT though).
I will do some more testing this weekend and decide if I should keep this card.
Any thoughts, recommendations on settings?

Las time I looked on Amazon there were two different versions of the Sapphire card. One called
"Sapphire 11293-03-40G Radeon Nitro+ Rx 5700 Xt 8GB GDDR6 Dual HDMI/ Dual DP OC (UEFI) PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card"
and another one called
"Sapphire 11293-01-20G Radeon Pulse RX 5700 Xt 8GB GDDR6 HDMI/ Triple DP OC w/ Backplate (UEFI) PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card"
which one did you test and do you know what the differences are?
