OK, I've installed XP on a Boot Camp partition and would now like to upgrade to W7. But I really only plan on using Windows 7 under Fusion.

Is it best to

1) Boot under Xp to install W7, or
2) Upgrade XP to W7 under Fusion

Any thoughts? Anyone done an upgrade under Fusion?

Going from XP to W7 you will need to erase and install.

[ Backup any files you need to keep before doing so! ]

Yes, of course, an erase and install is required. The issue is whether to install under Fusion or native Windows.

Boot Camp, if you ever plan to use it outside of Fusion.

I had big trouble with XP doing the SP3 upgrade inside Parallels when I returned to Boot Camp, so I won't do updates in a VM anymore.
