I heard that iPhone upgrade dates are pulled back 6 months as of 2010 for the full discount upgrade

Does that mean i got screwed over by 2 days??

Yes. But maybe if you call ATT they can make an exception since you are so close.

So..

on att.com it said my eligibility for upgrade was December 11, 2010. Does that mean I can upgrade to the new Iphone for the reduced rate?

Second... I have been planning on adding a line to my existing contract. Can I buy the new Iphone online by adding a line, over the internet, say apple.com?

Thanks from a macrumors newb (hovered for 2 years)

Yep anyone with their eligibility in 2010 gets the full upgrade price 299 for 32gb 199 for 16gb. Lucky I'm not eligible till april but probably gonna update anyway.

Where do you see an upgrade date? In my account when I select upgrade eligibility it takes me to the phone page and says I can get reduced pricing with a new 2 year contract. Of course, it does not yet show the iPhone 4 but shows all of the regular iphones at the subsidized pricing. My 3Gs is only 11 months old. I read somewhere (I believe it was in a Macworld article) that AT&T was offering the subsidized price to everyone? Still, there is no date that I can find, just the subsidized prices with the new 2 year contract.

Also, is the new iPhone ready for the 4G network or will that be in the next version? I can't make any sense of Apple's tech page. No mention of LTE or whatever AT&T will be.

lol
No, 4G network is not ready and the iPhone has been GSM for the past 4 years

Yes I know. I've had 2 of the 3 versions (original and 3Gs). However, AT&T announced last year that the new network would begin rolling out in 2011. I was hoping Apple would be prepared ahead of time, silly me. Having said that, I'll probably wait until the next version. Buying a new phone every year is crazy, even for me:D.

If you dial *639# on your phone, should get a text back telling you if you are eligible, and the date you are eligible.

I bought my 3GS with the half subsidy (or whatever you call it) last July and AT&T online tells me I can only upgrade with no-commitment pricing but am eligible for a standard upgrade March. I don't even get a half subsidy?!?

Damn.

So if there isn't a date on top of your screen, you can upgrade at subsidized price?

Login to OLAM. On the first screen click on Check Upgrade Options. The next screen will show every phone on your account. Click on Upgrade Eligibility. The next thing I see is a list of Phone and Device Selection, with lots of them having $0.00. Before my contract was up on 5/31/2010, there was a message box at the top of the list (black type on an orange background) that had some text indicating when I'd be eligible.

On June 15th, the list of phones will have the iPhone4 models at $199 and $299 for everyone eligible for a subsidized phone.

Yes I went down that path, but my accounts are not showing any message box on top, which prompted me to confirm if "no text" represents eligibility.

This is explained in the upgrade guide. But yes...if the price shows up and there is no date, you can buy those phones at those prices today.

Thank you. I thought it would be a quick confirmation, that's why I asked.

if i'm 2/2011, can i pay the 399/499 and still get the phone at release date?
