upgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4

I have an unlocked (anysim) 1.1.1 phone and want to upgrade to 1.1.4 because I keep getting the SMS is full message. From what I understand, I just upgrade in iTunes and then run iLiberty to unlock and jailbreak again. Question: in the process, will I lose all my current SMS? Is there a way that I can save them and download them back to my phone after the upgrade/unlock.

Right but after I run iLiberty+, would that erase them all?
