Upgrade from 10.6

This may be a dumb question but can you upgrade from Snow Leopard 10.6 directly to 10.8 when it comes out? Or do I have to do the incremental upgrade to Lion 10.7 first?

We don't know for sure yet, although I suspect we'll find out tomorrow. Could go either way, since you do have the App Store (where Mountain Lion will be sold) on Snow Leopard, but they could choose to require Lion if they wanted to. Check back after 12PM PST tomorrow.

Even if you are technically not supposed to, it will be possible, just like how you can skip from Leopard to Lion now
