i have a 2g.

i can upgrade to a 3g for 99$.

once i get the 3g, and sign a new 2 yr contract, can i then upgrade to a 3gs right after for 199$ ? or will i not qualify.

i want to upgrade to the 3g for 99. sell it on ebay for like 450$ then get the 3gs. and make a profit.

will this work?

well my 2 yrs arent up on the 2g contract. and there allowing me to upgrade. so why wouldnt they let me re upgrade after i get the 3g.

and yeah i just searched and saw one going for 450$. people dont want contracts.

regardless of the eBay aspect, you get one upgrade at a time. you can't just keep upgrading right after another. u can upgrade to the 3G S after the contract with the 3G is over, but not until then.

Right. This will not work. If you upgrade to the 3G, that will be your one upgrade. Regardless of whether you sold it or not.

The easy way to work out if this is possible is to consider the two following questions.

1) Is this getting one over on AT&T?

2) Will I come out on top?

If the answer to either of these questions is yes then it's not possible :)

Question: Why would you go to 3G and then 3GS right after?

Why not skip the crappy 3G and go straight to 3GS? They're designed the same… might as well get the faster one right?

They're allowing you to upgrade on the 2G contract because you payed full price for it. The 3G and 3GS are both subsidized by AT&T. That's why you can get them for $99 and $199 instead of their full price. However, once you get a subsidized phone you can only get another one once your 2 year contract is up.

no. once you upgrade to the 3G, you can't upgrade again until the two years are up.

and who would buy a 3G on eBay for more than $99?

FYI I sold my used 16gig 3g (used for 6months) for 350 and a brand new 3GS (16gig) for 650. There is def. bank potential if you are on a family line with people that don't care about their phones.

ok, let's focus on the real question in this thread. he cannot upgrade to the 3G and then upgrade again to the 3G S until the contract on the 3G is up. the eBay issue is irrelevant because he can't get the 3G to sell

Yeah you can upgrade as many times as you want for $200 and sell them all on ebay to make tons of profit.

Seriously, nothing about your idea triggered the "it can't be this easy" alarm?
