I have a first gen airpods, I have been using this for about 3 years time.

I am happy with the overall sound quality ,but battery is now not even not lasting 1 hour on single charge. I have to recharge every hour.

a couple of questions help me devide to buy the pro or new gen regular.

1. Is the sound quality noticeably better in comparance with regular gen 2 ? I am not bass person, I love vocals, jazz and classical stuff mainly. I need balanced system.

2. Noice cancellation could be fine ,but I doubt it is healty when you are using it outdoors, in traffic where you will need environmental noises for your safety. When i am at home it is already silent, I do not think noice cancellation will do any different at silent rooms.

3. how is the battery life in airpod pro ? I will mostly use it for listening music rather than chatting with someone.

4. Is bt5.0 makes differenc over regular gen 1 bt4.0 ? I mean my regular airpod is already fine and fast. just I am not happy with battery.

5. What is spatial audio and difference does it make ?

If I commuted on public transportation on a regular basis, I probably would have kept my APP. As is, I didn’t need ANC and found the gen 2 AirPods a better upgrade for me from gen 1. If ANC isn’t a priority for you, I’d recommend the AirPods. Since Apple implemented a different interface for controls, i.e. squeezing stem vs double tap, you would benefit from knowing that before buying.
Battery life will be better/same since what you are experiencing is due to normal degradation. Calls drain the batteries faster than just listening so you’ll see comparable longevity on the gen 2 AirPods and APP and slightly less on the APP when ANC is enabled.
You will probably notice a difference in audio quality, with the APP being better, but this can be subjective. For me, it wasn’t that huge of a difference, but the APP did sound better.
BT 5 is obviously better than BT 4, but it’s not anything you will be aware of directly. Unless, you like to measure how far you can walk away from the device you are paired to. Pairing is still great.
I can’t address spatial audio, but it’s a cool feature that’s not cool enough to persuade me to upgrade to APP.
