Currently got the iMac G5 isight model, and it pretty much does everything I want it to, usual fair of web, mail, word, excel etc etc

But in general terms it feels a bit sluggish and clunky, slow startup, slow to launch apps...

I use iphoto for my snaps but would like to get back into imovie etc but feel that the G5 while usable wont be a great experience.

How much of a system improvement will I see from going from G5 to i3?

Dont particularly want/need/afford i5 or i7 or 27" screen. Thinking the base model will be suitable for me.

Many thanks in advance. :)

the i3 is way faster, I think it's 3-4 times faster

i'm in a similar boat with a g5 1.8 currently. it's... alright but i've been holding out and holding out. with the new imacs the refurb deals are here. the 3.06 core duo is a steal right now. am i dumb in doing that instead of holding out longer or is it pretty good. i'm already aware that most anything is gonna knock my socks off compaired to my g5 but suggestions?
