Quick question for those who decided to upgrade:
I have a 2018 Cellular 256GByte 12.9 Ipad. Love it and use it as heavy work machine, especially for Teams, Zoom on LTD; also heavy usage of Stagemanager (which is a revelation for me since the latest update).
Why I’m thinking about an upgrade:
I have a sense that the current iPad is a bit sluggish (especially during Teams - which might also an Teams issue) and would hope for a better performance and I also hope that 5G (iPad is used in Germany mainly) makes Zoom/ Teams better together with the better front facing camera.

Any thoughts observations?

I did this upgrade - from 2018 11 inch (512 GB, WiFi) to 2022 11 inch iPad Pro (1 TB, WiFi). I am happy with the upgrade. I wanted more RAM. Sometimes the 2018 model would struggle with my Safari usage (tend to open lots of tabs) and my multitasking habits. Also sometimes Notability would struggle with big PDF files (over 250-300 pages). Nothing horrendous but as not the most enjoyable experience either. I no longer have issues now that I have the new iPad.

If you have specific questions feel free to ask.

Center Stage does help a bit if you have video calls on the iPad. At least you are not half outside of the frame :D.

If you plan to buy 12.9 inch you would also get the display improvements.

Yeah, however a caveat is that a lot of people report blooming on the 12.9...

I have both the 2018 and the M1 and still use both equally. The main improvement of the M1 is more RAM so less reloads, both are very fast. The main downside of the M1 is that it is thicker and heavier. So for things where I need to hold the iPad (like reading or annotating) I keep using the 2018, which is nicer to hold.

Interesting. I had not noticed that the M2 iPad I now have is heavier than the 2018 one.

Thank you all for shairng your experience. I went ahead and bought one over the weekend. Judging from working with it for several hours now it was the right decision - everything is just a bit smoother and faster, much less dropped VCs (probably because of more RAM) and 5G makes things overall faster. For me, this was the right choice.
