I'm considering upgrading from the iPhone XR to the iPhone 13, especially since my XR is starting to do funky stuff once in a while. Like the screen freezes, and nothing I do changes it for several seconds. then it rapidly goes through everything I tried and responds again. Or it will just not wake up, and I think it bricked itself, only to turn on after a couple minutes working fine.
Basically, is the iPhone 13 a good one to upgrade to from the XR? or should I wait for the iPhone 14?

I'm also planning to upgrade from the XR to a 13.

Glad I waited, as the 13's battery life should be excellent. Looking forward to getting rid of the XR's temperamental Intel modem and returning to Qualcomm.

Is that why once in a blue moon I just lose all internet capability off wifi on my phone wholesale? I could be out and about, then I can't get email, no web-browser, no phone calls, texts, etc. and apps with internet requirements won't work? It takes like 2 resets to get it back up.

I also have an XR and I am torn between a 13 or 13 mini, and keeping this XR another year and getting a battery replacement... it's generally fine, couple of weird buggy things but I am hoping iOS 15 might help!

Yeah, the battery life for my XR has decreased massively. I'm lucky if it's 40% by noon after coming off the charger around 8am. I've got a charging cable by my work desk and a battery case as backup.

Similar to me. Mine is mostly fine but has randomly started draining battery when in standby. Last week my screen time averaged at 30 minutes a day and yet I still had to charge every night.

Will see what happens when I install iOS 15 and then decide between keeping it another year (as I don’t need a new phone) or going 13 or 13 mini.

Based on the fact that the 13 is the same screen size but a smaller phone than the XR I’ll probably get that if I do upgrade.

The XR is a great iPhone from what I’ve read, but if you can swing it I think the 13 would feel like a big upgrade.

I’m going from an XR to a Pro Max.
Wanted a max back when I got the XR but couldn’t justify the cost at the time.

Now I’m getting the big screen and oled display!

My XR is working perfectly, but if I had experienced the problems that OP describes I would definitely have upgraded to the 13.

Yeah, if none of the stuff I described actually happened, I'd be fine with my XR. But since it's happened more then once, I don't want to chance it crapping out on me at the worst time.

I feel like I need a sponsor, who I can call up when I get tempted by shiny iPhone 13s and who can say "MARTIN GET A GRIP YOUR XR STILL WORKS FINE YOU MORON", I get such tech-urges I think it's a disease 😆

Oh man, I can relate. I was really tempted to get the 12 last year, but around then my XR was working like a champ.
Now it's giving me issues more frequently.

I did eventually Pre-Order the iPhone 13! except Best Buy screwed up my pre-order. Pro Tip, never choose Best Buys option "Set Up Mobile Service" when pre-ordering phones from them. If you choose "Set Up Mobile Service" and Best Buy can't do it, they'll just cancel the order. No contacting you to resolve it, email or anything; it's an automated response to being unable to set it up on their end. All I got was a text message and email that they canceled my pre-order and refunded me. I had to re pre-order on thursday, now I'm expecting the phone this coming wednesday. small silver lining was the day before they canceled my first pre-order, I had gotten a 10% off coupon email from best buy, and it worked on the second pre-order.

I just posted in another thread about XR to 13 Pro. With a good battery, the 13 is still ahead on screen and battery and a fair sight faster too. Having said all that, it's nothing night and day in my opinion. I think I'll keep it, but not 100% sure yet.

I know it’s been awhile but how was the upgrade from XR to 13? I was thinking of doing it for my fiancé just to get 5G and a bit better battery life on paper. How was the upgrade? I’m not getting the 14 because it’s basically the 13 with another core.

upgraded my XR to 14Pro, it was no brainer for me, Tmobile gave $400 (24months bill credit ) I have no plans on switching other carriers anyway, Swappa sells XR $150-$200. I need 48MP camera, 4K cinematic videos , better 5G ultra wide .just me.

Yes it’s definitely worth it. Though you might as well upgrade to the 14, I’ve never really seen the logic in upgrading to last years model as the upgrade price isn’t really that much different

The 13 is cheaper and basically same specs as the 14.

Most people don’t buy the phones outright and it’s gonna be a few quid a month at most difference between a 13 and 14. Sure, it’s not the most dramatic difference ever, and if you already had a 13 then the upgrade to a 14 (non pro at least) is questionable. But I just don’t see the logic in buying a phone that’s of the previous generation just for the sake of a few quid a month, which is what a couple of lattes or something

I buy phones outright. The logic is that it’s the same phone with 2 less cores for a cheaper price. If you can’t understand that I don’t know how else to articulate it. And it was about upgrading from a XR to 13. Why spend more money for a slightly better phone?
