I upgraded to Lion last year on my 2.4 GHz late '07 iMac with 4 GB of RAM, and have had to stay on top of memory management ever since (esp. with frequent memory drains from Safari). I've already upgraded to Mountain Lion on my '11 MacBook Pro (2 GHz, 8 GB RAM), and it seems to run just fine. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether the upgrade to ML on my iMac would help, or whether it would only slow it down further.

I have a Mid 2007 iMac with 2GB Ram that we upgraded to ML. Best decision we could have made.

With Lion it was agonisingly slow, constantly running out of memory and was only not downgraded to SL because of the effort involving various backups.

ML is nice and fast, and only occasionally has memory slowdown moments. If you've got 4GB it should fly.

Thanks, that's just what I wanted to hear. I'll make the leap then!
