Upgrade from Macbook

Currently I have last years late 2009 Mac Mini, basically maxed out with 8gb ram 2tb external storage attached. I also own a Mid 2007 macbook which I use for my portable. I really like the size of the 11-inch Air but am considering just paying the 300 dollars more and buying a base-model 13. Being that my desktop is very good, for portable task would a base model 11-incher be worth it for a basic portable or is the 13-inch upgrade a better decision. Thanks
