Upgrade MBP video card?

I have a basic Macbook Pro 15" coming in the mail soon. The basic model has the GeForce 8600M 128MB gfx card. Is it possible a year from now to upgrade to a larger video card or is the card attached by solder?

This question was asked in another post but he said his computer was 1-2 years old. Has it changed?

It's not possible, it's soldered on to the main board.

It might be able to handle those games, but with a lot of options turned off. I have a PowerBook with a 128mb video card, and 1gb ram. Call of Duty and Halo run pretty good with full everything. GTA4 looks like it will have amazing graphics and 128mb video card might be the bare minimum.

Considering that there isn't that much of a difference in performance between the 256MB card and the 128MB, I doubt you'd notice a difference.

Crossing fingers don't help much, just send it back and upgrade to a 256mb model

I was reading that the 128MB video cards are still all right so /shrug. The model with the 256MB card is like 500 dollars more for a tiny bit faster processor. Not really worth it in my opinion + I'm trying to maintain the poor college student facade.
