I bought 8gb of memeory from crucial but the mini does not accept 8 will only allow 6 have tried both stick they work when on own but as soon as one is put in bank0 will not start. Have been told to update firmware but when i try to install say not needed. The min serveri is a late 2009 2.53ghz running snow leopard.

are you under warranty? if you are bring it in. I have owned and modded 75 plus 2009 mini's . your problem was most likely a factory defect. firmware if installed correctly should work. don't be afraid to argue with the techs at the store. tell the tech to install 8gb of samsung or hynix ram to see what happens. if hynix or samsung work then the ram is not compatible. if that is the case return the crucial and out in samsung or hynix ram

In the same line of questioning. I have an older mac Mini. For my model I've read the max amount of ram is 3GB. I've recently acquired 4gb in 2 2gb sticks. Will I be able to install it? Will the machine only see 3gb available?
