Upgrade Need advice

So I have a powerbook g4 that has mac os X 10.4 on it. I have backed up everything on a monthly basis. I want to upgrade the 100 gb hard drive to a 320 or a bit bigger. From what I see I can just use my "superduper" program and copy the backup to the new hard drive shut it down install the new one and everything should be good to go. Or the other option I think I have is to install the newer version mac os X 10.4 which I can get.

So which way should I go an installing the new HD?

I already searched, I posted in the right location, and I am not getting an answer. That is why I bumped it. :rolleyes::confused:


Why would you recommend a SATA drive can my mac support that?

I made a mistake, your laptop cannot support a SATA drive, it needs ATA, as do (almost) all pre-2006 Apple notebooks.

A couple of thoughts:
I. You bumped it - that's against the rules
II. You asked a question you already knew the answer to and them bumped it - that's just plain illogical

Actually not rely. I still do not knwo which format of HD I need. Also my other question was not answered. Do I need ultra ATA or IDE or which one. My other question was do you still recommended just making an image of the disk or start out fresh with a new install. Would that be faster?
 
I want to thank the members of this site for there wonderful in depth information for my questions. As i still would like to hear from you here I posted the question on another site and got 3 answers in a matter of a few minutes.

You should save your money and buy an Intel Mac. :). That's my advice.
 
Well I did the upgrade and it worked out great! The Western Digital Hard drive worked well and the cheap 12 dollar external enclosure worked as well. I used super duper to copy the drive than opened it up and swapped out the drives. The mac rely did not notice the difference. So now I have 132gb to fill up. I just hope I get my new mac before than.
