I have an iPad Air 2 and it is getting really slow And battery doesn’t last long.
quesrion is upgrade to what?
ipad 9, Air 4 or wait for Air 5.

I have a M1 MBP so I use that for heavy lifting. Main uses will be:
Garageband
Streaming
surfing and email
Occasional swift Playgrounds
depending On next job probably use office apps as well.

what do you recommend?

Btw I tested to reinstall my Air 2 as a new iPad but still slow although a little better.

I too have an Air 2. Biggest downside for me of late has been battery run time. It's been dwindling. It still seems 'quick enough' most of the time. I chose to order the Air 5 as soon as it went up for pre-order. I've gotten plenty of good use out of my 2 so have no regrets replacing it at this point. I couldn't justify an ipad pro personally and at this point with the Air also running the M1 I think it's a no-brainer. Mine has mainly been used for web and media consumption with light usage in google sheets when dealing with inventory control and the like on the move at work when I've needed it. I almost ordered the 4 a couple months ago but decided to hold out and see if something was announced this spring. I'm glad I waited. I think the longevity that will be provided by the M1 was worth it.
