Never tried online. Do they make you input all of your credentials? I'd be just as happy with any other model tbh. Don't even see why Apple needs or wants this info. Everything they send through said program is unlocked anyway.

Not that me asking questions likely helps. Just curious though.

You have to enter your Serial # and last 4 of your IMEI.

I meant when you first decided to go with the T-Mobile specific device. Did you have to enter T-Mobile credentials? I guess I just don't get why you need to pick a carrier at all. The selling point of the program is that the phones are unlocked from the getgo and can be moved to another carrier at will.

Oh, no. At the time there wasn't an online process for choosing a carrier. You picked iPhone Upgrade Program and chose the carrier in-store. However, if you go through the process now, you have to pick your carrier. It doesn't make much sense. I'm just going to pre-order and choose ATT and change to T-Mobile in-store. It's wonky that Apple hasn't hammered this out yet.

I just chatted with Apple. If you

a) Enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program
b) Are on T-Mobile

You will

a) Not be able to upgrade online or over the phone
b) You will have to wait until phones are in-store to upgrade on T-Mobile

That's just retarded. Going to choose ATT and then change carriers on pickup.

That's what I'm going to do as well. So that I'm able to preorder I'm going to select AT&T as my carrier and then pop-in my nano sim from T-Mobile at pickup. Ridiculous to have to jump through hoops like this though.

So you can't order via phone because you're in Apple's program?

Do you not have to give apple your account details when you sign up for the upgrade program?

Can I say my carrier is Verizon so I can enroll in the apple upgrade program when I preorder online even though I'm with Tmobile? I believe the Verizon iphones are unlocked so I can just stick my tmobile sim when I get the iPhone 7 correct?

I would agree to this. Unsure why they want you to pick a carrier. Perhaps because of the way Verizon and sprint still will only allow a new line of service on "their" phones?

Regardless, makes even less sense for T-Mobile to not be an option. Shouldn't make a difference! The SE in using with T-Mobile originated with a Verizon sim.

Anyway hope you get things figured out. Shouldn't be this complicated.

I spoke to Apple chat and they said I can order a T-mobile phone for pickup in-store and re-up my Apple Upgrade Program there. Let's hope it's easy as that.
Don't you have to pay in full to pre-order for in-store pickup though? I'm in a similar boat in that I want to buy a new iPhone 7 on the Apple Upgrade Program for the first time as an existing T-Mobile customer. I'm assuming I need to go in to the store to pre-order but if I can do something similar to your setup that would be easier.

This is because most t-mobile customers don't live in good neighborhoods and if they sent the phones out a high percentage would be stolen... ;)

So, I got my 6S+ last year via Apple Upgrade Program. Checked their website with my S/N and last 4 of IMEI, and got the answer below. I'm on T-Mobile as well.

End thread. This is how it's gonna work for all of us already on the upgrade program or those looking to join it. I'm using my "AT&T" Upgrade program iPhone on T-Mobile and will be going through the same process of making an in-store reservation for launch day and just setting it up with a T-Mobile sim. I have the same message minus having to pay off the balance.

I'm ATT but I believe it's the same for all Upgrade Program customers. You go on the Apple Store, pre-order the phone you want and then go to the store on launch day to exchange your old phone for it.

JOD TMobile customer. Last year went in person to the TMobile store and pre-ordered the phone on Pre-Order day, and then picked up the phone on release day. Easy-peasy. Took all of maybe 10 minutes.

If you are on Jump On Demand or Jump, those of us who pre-ordered the 6S/6S Plus couldn't get orders to go through T-Mobiles site and ended up having to call to pre-order. If you have T-Mobile as your service, but did Apples upgrade program then you will use them.

With T-Mobile the hope is they will have their act together that pre-ordering through their site will work this time. If it doesn't, you will need to call in and pre-order that way. Could be easy, could be nightmare. You can go in store the next day but should not have to. Don't get tricked into thinking this. September 9th at 3AM EST and 12AM PST you can pre-order through T-Mobile site or by calling T-Mobile.

^ It'll be a nightmare. Count on it.

I love TMO, but their website is just as piss poor and slow as it's ever been. Trust that they haven't fixed it so we can JoD online.

I wouldn't say this is end of thread. Try doing a mock purchase of an iPhone 7. Choose T-Mobile and there's no option to pay with iPhone Upgrade Program (go through all the purchase steps online). Choose ATT and you have the option.

I signed up through T-Mobile, but I've since moved overseas and no longer have the T-Mobile plan.
When I check my "Eligibility Status" in the Apple Store app, it says:

Beginning September 9, you'll be able to make a reservation online to upgrade at the Apple Store. On the day of your appointment, bring your current iPhone with you to complete the upgrade process. You'll have to pay off the remaining balance of your first 12 monthly payments (including applicable taxes and fees). * Your actual payment amount will be determined when you upgrade in the store. And your loan must be in good standing.

You do will that option when you go through the preorder workflow (which you obviously can't until Friday). Last year you could preorder and that option was available. :)
