I’m in UK and an official Apple premium seller is offering £250 for my 10.5” Pro 256Gb if buying another iPad. Is this a decent trade in price? Probably get more on eBay etc, but then the hassle for how much more? At a local seller/buyer called CEX they offer £192 cash or £273 for a CEX voucher.

I think I’d go for a M1 11” 128Gb or 256Gb. I think the 128Gb will be ok as I just fill it with movies, but may go with 256Gb.

So few questions, is the above a good trade in deal, in UK anyway. (Apple direct trade in is £200)

I only went the 11” but wondering on how good the 12.9” Mini LED screen is, and if maybe worth waiting for another year so maybe the 11” gets it. Is it that much better? Only for HDR movies?

I’m thinking of upgrading, purely as think it’s time to get some value out of my 10.5” still, obvious new battery, like the full screen idea. The speed is ok on my 10.5” as I do nothing intense really. A lot of 10.5” also end up with white spot issue, mine hasn’t, but May on future so then trade in would be much lower. I also like the look at the Air 4 tbh, but just think these M1 will future proof for a lot of years, I aim to keep this for years and years.

Thanks

One way you could think about this is to decide how much your time is worth to you and how risk averse you feel. If, say, you are accustomed to making £8.91/hour (unlikely, given you're considering Apple products, right?), spending more than 5 or 6 hours setting up and running an eBay auction won't be worth the extra £50 or so you'll likely receive. Or if the premium seller is offering an instant, in-person trade in, you might find the ability to avoid hassling with remote trade in procedures and the possibility of a low offer to be valuable.

As you mentioned, it is probably a little less money than you can get elsewhere. However, it is headache and you don't have to worry about someone trying to scam you.

The way I view trade-in or a private sale, is that money is not anticipated. Ergo, I can't rightfully complain about said money.

Yes the convenience of just giving the iPad in, no hassle as they check it there and then, is worth a bit I agree.

So Apple direct are £200, Premium seller is £250 with extra, is that an ok price as of today for a 10.5” 256Gb?

They also are doing 0% at moment, so the little extra a month, could be handy if decide to go for the safer 256Gb, although not sure I want to do that, and just go for the credit card.

Obviously no one never knows when to upgrade, I’m also wondering what the Mini LED is like, as I can imagine it will come to 11” maybe next year. Although then my 10.5” will be less again, around and around ha ha

I can imagine it is. However I really don’t want the size of the 12.9, I much prefer the 11”, it’s around same as my current 10.5”.

Wife has the old 12.9 with home button, it’s huge!! I know it’s now smaller with FaceID but still too big.

I’m unsure wether to wait until next version for the 11” mini LED, although heard of some blooming issues. Don’t understand why Apple only did the 12.9 though, splitting the features of the Pro don’t seem right.

Decisions…..

Is it on par with even the best OLED panels?
Absolutely, even destroys oled in most areas, accurate colour, no colour shift off axis, brighter more accurate white, no playing the screen lottery so you don’t get a yellow display, uniform display unlike some oled panels, no risk of green tint and burn in, want me to keep going ???

When you think about it properly and weigh up the limitations you get with oled, apple going with mini led for their big screen iPad is a genius move.

Wonder if I should wait then for the 11” to get the Mini LED screen. I know it will be a while.

No need to wait, no one even knows if the 11" will get a mini led display next year, get the big boy now, and don’t look back.

M your correct no one knows, I just presume though that will eventually be on par.

As above thought straight the big boy, is a big boy and so only after the 11” hence my dilemma….
