currently have the new imac w/ 2 GB ram...

how much do you think prices will drop after a few months - 1 yr?

right now i think i saw 4 GB of crucial RAM at newegg for $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148159&Tpk=200-pin+SODIMM%2c+DDR2+PC2-6400

anyone seen any better deals at reliable places for reliable brands?

and will moving up to 4 GB significantly improve normal day to day uses such as time opening programs, etc. ? or where will I see the most improvement when going up to 4 GB?

Prices are at about as low as they can go for 667 Mhz ram, give it 6 months for 800 Mhz SO DIMMs (what the new imacs want). If the 2GB is all in one stick, you only have to buy one more 2GB stick (~$25-35). If there are two sticks already in your imac, to get 4GB you'll have to spend a little more.

there is a comment on that newegg page from someone who tried using that RAM in their new iMac and it did NOT work, even though its the same type crucial.com says should work "guaranteed".

anyone else tried that newegg RAM?
