I'm in the public beta program, but am currently running Yosemite my MacBook. Is there any way to upgrade to the latest public beta without upgrading to PB1 first and then updating?

Nope, you have to go one by one. Same with the Developer Preview.

This is annoying. But i guess betas aren't meant to be easy. I think Apple just doesn't want people re-downloading the whole package.

Exactly. The idea is for you to test not use it for your clean installs. :p I did the upgrade just recently and there are still bugs and stability improvements to be made. Overall it's a good improvement but I did think it would be even snappier.

I'm running it off my 128 Gb SanDisk Extreme Pro USB with 256 MB/s r/w speeds so it's a great way to test out the betas...

I'm running it off my extremely old Seagate 250GB with 38 MB/s write and 33 MB/s read speeds... not the fastest system ever... ;) but since some of my most used software doesn't work with PB4, I don't mind. It's fun to fiddle with it for half an hour, then go back to Yosemite.
