Hello,

In my Macbook Pro 2015, I am still running Sierra (not High Sierra). But more recent programs are already requiring me to upgrade, for example, Parallels. I was thinking about upgrading to Mojave, because of its stability and 32-bit support. But after giving it some thought, I could upgrade to Big Sur and run inside Parallels the one 32-bit program I still use.

Is Big Sur really, really good now that Monterey is already out?
Should I go to Mojave or Big Sur?

EDIT: Sorry, previously I said Mavericks, but I meant Mojave!

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t Mavericks be a downgrade from (Low) Sierra? If it were up to me I would totally go Big Sur for security reasons. Mavericks is 8 years old. Therefor if you‘re wanting to use the mac for anything online related, using Mavericks would pose a pretty big security risk. If you *must* run 32-bit apps I would definitely do the Parallels trick you proposed because you get the best of both worlds.

Crap, I meant Mojave (10.14)...
I'll edit the first post.
Haha that makes a lot more sense! I was gonna say…

Regardless, I would definitely go to Big Sur if you Mac can handle it because it’s more up-to-date and therefore more secure. Then again, if you MUST have 32-bit apps running natively Mojave shouldn’t be TOO bad. It’s obviously not new but its a lot better than Sierra regarding security patches.

Mojave (10.14) no longer gets security updates. I would install Big Sur, that is stable and supported by Apple, and run Mojave in a virtual machine. I consider Monterey to be in the public beta phase.
