I've been staring at Dell PCs for most of my adult life and would gladly trash my 7 yr old XPS 8100 tomorrow for the Mac Mini if Apple would only offer the options of an up-to-date quad-core Intel or AMD processor and a half-way decent graphics card.

Won't happen. Apple wants you to pay more $$$ to get into the Apple Ecosystem, with your requirements. Sadly, Apple would rather NOT have you as a customer, than lose the sale of a single iMac, MBP, or Mac Pro.

Stupid, I know.

The days of good Mini are gone.

1. To be used as a gateway drug you wanting more (i.e. iMac once you try out the OS in a mini.
2. Apple needs something simple to run Server App. If you are storing lots of data there is thunderbolt. Cache service which Apple uses does not take much horsepower and the confit / balance can be split among many more machines easily.
