I upgraded to 10.8.2 yesterday.
However, since then, I experienced three system crashes (complete iMac shutdown). And I don't know what to do.
After restart, I got the following crash report:

I wonder if somebody can understand what causing (supposedly) a conflict.

Never experienced a crash in 5 years of macs.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

I just updated to 10.8.2 today and had the same problem. Complete system crash/reboot all of the sudden twice. Hopefully someone can shed a light.

To the OP, just out of curiosity, how is your My Book formatted? Is it FAT32 by any chance? The last kext loaded was msdosfs which handled the FAT/FAT32 filesystem. Disconnect the external drive for a while and see if you get any more crashes.

Thanks for the suggestion. In Info, it says "MacOS Extended".

I can try to disconnect it.

By the way, I had two crashes today: in both cases, I had the App Store application opened, trying to download an iPhoto upgrade (which could not complete because of the crash). In one of the two I also had iTunes (upgraded a couple of days ago) also open.
I wonder if some of these can induce some glitch.

same here

MBP simply does not work after 10.8.2

Freezes, won't run TimeMachine... Finder quits... have to force shut down with power key.

sometimes it won't startup at all, with a white screen and error message.... others it will start, but then be totally frozen with minutes.

Sigh

My iMac 2009 i7 model (16 gigs of memory) has been experiencing kernel panics on and off, usually during the middle of the day where nothing in particular is happening.

This started with 10.82.

Interesting.

any fixes found yet?
I too am having this problem. I have a brand new MBP I got yesterday.
I upgraded to 10.8.2 and since that I have had 3 reboots, with the same kernel panic messages posted on this thread.
I too was in the middle of an appstore update, only for me it was Xcode.
Appstore now shows no new updates available.

Since I do not use Xcode anymore I uninstalled it.
I also had an old Cisco VPN software client installed, I removed it as well as its not compatible with x64 systems.

So far since I've done that I have not had an issue but its only been about 30 minutes. Sure would like to know what's really going on here...

System is MBP 15" retina display 512 SSD HD and 16GB RAM.

no news since september 2012?

Hi,

I'm new there and certainly this thread is dead, but as I run up against the same problem (kernel panic during the update from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3 or 10.8.4 - BSD process name corresponding to current thread: installd), maybe someone found a solution since september 2012.

Thanks anyway for all the informations on the site

Regards

I just upgraded to the latest OS X a few days ago and have noticed random crashes on both my Mac mini and MBP. Both have SSD's if that makes a difference. It's really annoying.
