For years I have moved whatever photos I want onto my external drive by drag and dropping from computer to folder on my external drive without doing an entire hard drive backup. It now doesn't work at all. What has changed? I also want to create a new folder on my external drive and "Create New Folder" is grayed out and unable to be chosen. Other changes while on my external drive only, is that now every time I click on a file to open, the previous box stays open... so I have the entire folder trails open separately which means boxes all over my desktop. I also can't move items to trash while on external drive. I have no icons at the top while in folders on external drive. I am guessing that when I changed from Yosemite to El Capitan that my external drive is now not compatible. Can someone help me? Why did the upgrade make a difference?
1. No drag and drop
2. Can't create new folders
3. Separate trail of open folder boxes stay on desktop
4. Can't move files to trash
5. No icons at top of folders
