I bought a MacBook Pro i5 1.4Ghz Mid 2019, upgraded with 16Gb RAM and 256Gb SSD. This was an upgrade from an older iMac.

To be honest I went MBP as thought I’d use more around house and use Apple TV to airplay to TV when wanted a bigger monitor. But what I’ve found is I don’t and use my iPhone and iPad a lot more.

I’m finding I don’t use Mac now, mainly for Photos, but not ready to get rid of a “computer” fully yet.

So I’m wondering if I should get an M1 iMac as these seem decent spec, and M1 is a good CPU.

So a base 24” iMac is, with a Uni discount, around £1150. I’ve looked at trade in on Apple site for my MBP and it’s £460, still has AC+ for another year, I paid up front not sure of can claim back on this?

So do you think it’s worth it? I know the MBP has plummeted, and presume it’s ok still spec wise.

I suppose I could get more selling private, not sure how much, it’s in immaculate condition, never been out of house and used literally a handful of times, battery count is less than 10.

Is it worth me doing this? Or just stick with current MBP.

No one can answer if it’s worth it. That’s your decision to make. You’ll get a bigger nicer display, and a much faster computer with the iMac. I was in the same situation. I ditched an iMac back in 2014 for a MBP because I wanted the Retina display, and iMacs didn’t have them back then. After 7 years using a MBP, I recently purchased the new iMac. My MBP never left the house, so it didn’t make since to buy another one. If you aren’t a power user and you don’t need a mobile laptop, go with the iMac. You’ll get more bang for your buck.
