What do you guys think, upgrade now or wait to see if the October event has a new one?

This is totally an uneducated guess but I don't think we will see a new iPad Air released this year. I have a feeling iPads with the exception of the budget iPad will be staggered to every other year. My guess is that the next Air might get 6GB of RAM and the M1. I recently purchased the 9th generation iPad and it’s such a great value.

Just a larger screen. Looking at the 64gb air. iPad Pro is to big. I think the loss of the home button will be the sweet spot.

What?… the 11” iPad Pro is the same size, just slightly smaller bezels but the physical dimensions are identical, except it’s slightly thinner than the air.

Might as well wait - it's not like there's some massive sale on the Air right now that won't be there next week.

Even upgrade to M1, I doubt anyone can feel the speed different in daily usage.

Does the 11in Pro have 120Hz? When I said the Pro was to big, I meant the 12in. But the 120Hz would be a good reason to go up to the 11in Pro over the Air.

My usage is web browsing, YouTube, Some office work(Word and Excel), and Social Media(Twitter, Insta, FB). So no real heavy lifting that the M1 makes sense for me to spend the extra money.

Dont sound like you need air except you have too much money
You sound like my wife!! HAHAHA. I want the air/pro style to remove the home button to give a little cleaner look to the front. With the trade in of my current iPad the air is only like $200ish. Thats not to bad and will be a pretty big upgrade on speed I would think.

I didn’t know old ipad trade in $$$ is that high lol

Upgraded from a 10.5 inch pro to iPad Air after my son smashed it. Have to admit I don’t notice the lack of 120hz. Admittedly I don’t have a 120hz screen to compare it too but I didn’t think the additional £200 was worth it going to the M1 Pro. Quite like the touchid integrated into the power button and really enjoying the rounded corner screen design elements. I have no FOMO about going for the air over the pro at all.

then go for it(may be after the oct 18 Apple event just to be sure there's no new iPad Air). I too bought an iPad Air a couple of months back, trading in my 5th gen base model iPad for similar reasons... its a better display(laminated), looks better without the bezels and though my old iPad wasn't slow by any means, the Air is snappier and will be good for more years to come thanks to the more recent A14 chip inside. Also, the base storage is 64GB.

In terms of absolute dollars, you tend to lose the least with the basic iPad, base capacity, wifi.

I checked on Apple and they're actually offering $200 trade in for the 7th gen. Even the 6th gen is $150. I only paid $229+tax for my 7th gen (Cyber Monday deal).
