I recently uprgaded to tiger. Now none of my photos are in iphoto. They ARE in the folder, but not able to be viewed in the app. What gives??

For some reason I can't see any of my photos! They need to be updated or something, maybe. Help me out here.

Where are your pictures? Are they in Pictures->iPhoto Library? If not, iPhoto is most likely looking there for you pics. Just choose File->Add to Library in iPhoto. By the way, how did you move to Tiger? Update? Clean Install?

clean install. I had the photo library backed up on an external hd. Now, I put the iPhoto libray folder back in the pictures folder in my home directory and waa-laah. They have all vanished. I can see them in the finder, not in the app

Try to "Import" them from the external HDD, rather that just drop the library back to it's original location.

That WORKED!!!!!!!But I would really rather not have to turn on my external hd whenever I launch iPhoto. What do I do?

If it imported, check your iPhoto library (on the internal HDD)- are your photo's there now?? As long as iPhoto is set to look at the (internal) iPhoto library, you should not need the external plugged in.

I have had some problems recently in that iphoto will not recognize either of my burners. I can burn thru toast, thru itunes and others, but not iphoto. I have tried all of the usualy tricks (repair permissions) but I cannot figure it out. I get a "No devices available for burning" error message.

Any thoughts are appreciated...

the pics are only in the external hd. Why is there no "import" only "add to library"?

same thing- sorry, I din't have iPhoto in front of me at the time. Once your photos are on the internal drive, you can take the external out of the loop.

From iPhoto Help:

Moving the iPhoto Library folder to a new location

The iPhoto Library folder, located in your Pictures folder, contains photos you have imported into your photo library and any albums, slideshows, and books you've created using iPhoto.

IMPORTANT: If you move, delete, rename, or otherwise tamper with files or folders in the iPhoto Library folder, you may be unable to see your pictures in iPhoto.

1. Quit iPhoto.

2. Move the iPhoto Library folder to a new location on your computer.

IMPORTANT: If you've created multiple photo libraries, be sure to move only the library currently displayed when iPhoto is open. If you want to move a photo library other than the one you're currently working on, you first need to switch to it. To learn more about switching between photo libraries, click "Tell me more."

3. Open iPhoto.

4. Click Find Library.

5. Select the library and click Open.
