upgrade unlocked iphone 3gs to ios 5 old baseband

guys, my iphone 3gs is unlocked and it currently runs ios 4.0.
i want to know if I can upgrade it to ios5. I want it remain unlocked (any sim acceptable) and also jailbroken.
my baseband is 05.13.04 which i want to preserve.
kindly help me.
i think my phone is unlocked , i'm not too sure if it is factory unlocked or not, because my cousin gave it to me.

If you see app called Cydia on your iPhone and if it was sourced from US, 99.99 % chances that it is not factory unlocked. It would be software unlocked by ultrasn0w or some other trickery.

If you do not find any evidences of Jailbreaking or Cydia on your phone, let us know.

step by step guide

Yes you can do what you want. I have already done the upgrade.

You need Redsnow version 9.9b5 and the ios 5 ipsw.

You create a custom firmware that does not have the baseband and restore to that custom firmware using pwned DFU mode. After installing the custom firmware you jailbreak and install Cydia with the same version of Redsnow then you run Ultrasnow from Cydia.

One point to note if you have the old bootrom you will be untethered. If you have the new bootrom you will be tethered.

as you guys know that redsnow is currentlyincapable of creating custom ispws in windows. I do not have a mac yet. So I downloaded a hactivated ispwn file fromhttp://www.beijingiphonerepair.com/hack/download-hacktivated-custom-ios-5-ipsw-for-iphone-4-gsm-and-iphone-3gs-here/#idc-container
Then I tried to restore the file using itunes and it gave me an error 3194. Also then I tried to use the "select ispw" option in redsnow and the "browse ispw" option in snow breeze both say that the ispw file is invalid.

I dont understand what to do. I think my phone is already Unlocked. However when I got it there was no sign of cydia, so i installed cydia using "jaibreakme" .
Also please please tell me what to do

I want to preserve my baseband i.e 05.13.04.
