currently on a 2016 (first version?) iPad Pro 12.9.

I use the iPad primarily for movies, tv watching and drawing. (procreate etc).

for drawing and art purposes...is the new iPad Air a worthy enough upgrade? better refresh rate etc...? Or iPad Pro?

I have been outta the loop on iPads for years, so I am asking ya'll for some support and advice. I mainly want the pad that will provide the BEST drawing experience.

I’m not sure how others see it but the Air is also smaller screen wise and I would prefer the biggest screen possible both for drawing as well as for consuming content.

Agreed. While the smaller iPad feels amazing and one THINKS they can get by with smaller text, the larger screens make it far easier to read. I tried out a mini 5 for awhile and ... found my reading consumption almost completely stopped because of how small the text was vs the 11 Pro. The larger screen for me with the larger text just makes me want to keep reading more. Something I didn't even realize till I tried it out for a few weeks.

I recently sold my 2018 iPad Pro 11' to a relative. I then replaced it with an iPad mini 5. As explained in the above post, while I really liked it the few weeks I used it, I found I was slowly reading less and less. I'm only 35 but the ease of consuming massive amounts of text on the 11' screen ended up being the dealbreaker for me.

So, I decided to return the iPad mini 5 and ... then I had the choice. Air 4 or a 2020 Pro 11. To me, the 2GB extra of ram, the 120Hz Pro motion display, and the fact that there was only like a $150 price difference made it a no brainer for me. In person the screen on the Air 4 looked a little less vivid than the pro but that could have been the lights in the place I was.

Granted, there is a possibility new iPads will be coming out next month so if you do decide on the Pro, and you can wait, I'd wait for the possibility.

You need a pro for the best drawing experience because of 120hz, pencil has less latency...
