Brand new, looking for some help.
My year old Mac pro (2.26 quad xeon) has a geforce gt 120 card that seems to slow me down. Magic Bullets can't render sometimes. What would be a good upgrade that can handle my limited demands?
Appreciate any suggestions.

I'd say go the direction of ATI Radeon. the 5770/5870's are very good, or you might want to wait for the Mac Pro refresh to occur so that possible new GPUs may be released.

The higher VRAM in the 5770 and 5870s will help greatly with rendering.

Since it's a GPU dependent process, an upgrade should help out a bit. If you want to stick with Mac native cards, the Apple branded 5770 will annihilate the GT120, and the 5870 is nearly double the power of the 5770. New cards will be coming at some point, but both the 5770 and the 5870 would represent a massive upgrade right now. Just a matter of how much you want to spend.

If you want to save a little money, you can get a number of PC cards and flash them, just depends on how adventurous you are feeling. I stuck with the Apple card, but there are plenty of people who haven't....
