I have a 2010 5,1 4core

Updated CPU to 6core 3.2

Installed this tray into another machine (a 2012) and it only sees two RAM slots.
With memory in 3 banks bank 3 shows a red light, with four banks it does not post at all.

What's going on?
All of the RAM is the same speed.

Uninstall the CPU and check for bent socket pins on the board.

If there are some bent pins realign them with a needle or similar. I did this once.

When I upgraded my dual CPU cMP 5,1, one of the RAM slots was showing a redlight and the RAM was not recognized. Since I had a dual CPU machine, I swapped CPUs and the problem followed the CPU. I returned and exchanged the offending CPU and all has been fine since. I guess, what I'm saying, it could be CPU related.

Inserted the tray into the original tower and SMC reset.
All ok, then I inserted the other ram one by one and was ok.

Also tried with other ram too.

So I suppose the 2012 cMP did not like the 2010 tray?

Makes you wonder where people buy trays with upgraded processors (tray swaps).
