I upgraded my 3rd Gen (M8948LL) to a CF flash card (32Gb) because my hard drive (30gb) died. Everything went well, restored via iTunes but when I ejected the iPod in iTunes the 'Ok to disconnect' prompt would not go away.
So I reset the iPod by holding the menu and play buttons. It rebooted and everything was fine. I tried playing music but it skipped through every song very quickly. Rebooted again and it played the music fine. I keep this iPod permanently installed in my 2006 Nissan Murano with their XM to iPod conversion module. It's been working fine for 7 years.
So I bring it back to the car, it plays the songs. Shut off the engine, wait a few minutes, try again and it's back to skipping every song.
Every time I sync with iTunes it gets stuck with 'Ok to disconnect'. I restored the iPod again but it's no better. I rebuilt my iTunes library on my Windows 7 PC but that also did not help.
