Opened up mac mini to upgrade ram to 2GB, used crucial ram. Now i turn it on and no display or usb power. Keyboard and mouse receive no power and the display does not turn on. Machine seems to power on, fan is on, and still receives disk thru CD drive. I was careful when changing it, upgraded hard drive 2 weeks ago. This is the second generation model 1.5 intel core solo. Thanks.

Nope everything is connected, even put in the old ram and still the same thing. All connection on interconnect board are seated and the only connection that was disconnected for removal (thermal sensor cable) is also properly seated.
What were you standing on when you performed the upgrade? If you were on something like carpet, I hate to say it, but you might have done something to shock the computer. Not to worry though, it hardly ever happens, but I just figured I'll ask
Ok narrowed it down. I removed the ram, reinstalled only one slot at a time. Upper slot the computer turned on fine, but one i install to lower slot i get the same problem again. Those this mean there is something wrong with the slot? It was working fine with original ram.
Check for dirt or some other object that might be interfering with the bottom slot socket. Also, check the pins on the SO-DIMMs.
