Just purchased a Mid-2012 MBP i5, 4GB Ram and 500GB drive. Upgraded from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3 and clicked on "Restart". During restart, all I see is black screen with spinning indicator for the last 2 hours.

Should I hard Reset?

As I am new to the Mac world, not sure what to do...

I went ahead and bit the bullet and pressed the power button and held it until the system turned off. Turned it back on and it began the installing software update. I guess it must've just been hanging up on the restart?

Same here. I stupidly did this an hour before I needed to join a WebEx. Powering off and back on worked for me as well.
