I upgraded to iOS 5.1.1 yesterday, doing a full format, restore, and then restoring from my last backup.

I'm trying to pull my music down, and it seems like some songs refuse to download. I get the "This item cannot be downloaded. The item you have requested is not available for download." error.

I've disabled iTunes match on my 4S. I've Updated, Disabled, and Enabled it on my PC (Windows Vista). I've even gone so far as to purge my entire iTunes Match library (keeping my original files), then re-adding all of my music to my library & re-submitting to iCloud. None of this has resolved the issue.

One of the tracks that I was originally stuck on, now works, but now other tracks on the same album aren't.

Please help. :(

Now, my phone is not displaying all of the tracks from albums that have almost the same name, but in fact are different versions and ripped from physically different CDs.

If you look at the total of both discs, all of the songs are there. But version A has 1,2,5 etc and version B has 3,4,6 etc.

This is very frustrating.

And now, as salt in the wound, with iTunes Match turned off on my phone, dragging music to it from iTunes results in iTunes "Waiting for sync to start", and displaying all the music I dragged to it as grayed out. No sync icon ever appears on my phone itself.

Im glad im not the only person having this issue. Its extremely frustrating to have to trim my playlists so that I can download all of the songs without issue. Anyone have a fix for this?

I am getting the same error. Quick survey to try to narrow the problem down: Are any of you jailbroken? I'm wondering if it is a jailbreak issue or an Apple issue.

Just discovered it has nothing to do with iOS. Same file won't download on MacBook either. Guess next step is to back up the entire library and then wipe it off of iTunes Match and start over. This is gonna suck.

Yes, however...

I had noticed several days before that the iCloud logo in iTunes had a lightning bolt in it, and iTunes kept telling me that there was a problem with Match, and I should sign out and back in. Since at that point, I already had all of my music on my phone, I just ignored it.

Other than physically deleting my music and starting fresh, I've already done that and it didn't solve the issue.

That's what I am doing right now. Had it all backed up to an external drive, so I wiped out iTunes, refreshed match so it showed no tracks, and now its redoing match. Will report back if it works.

Well, that's a big nope. And to make matters more aggravating, I started a restore last night (over iCloud and WiFi) before I went to bed. I woke up late this morning because my connection dropped (I sleep one room away from the WiFi router) and the restore never finished.

I even went so far as to re-nuke my phone this morning and setup as a new one.

Same track won't download.

Oh, and once again, Apple decided to combine and split my multiple (but different) copies of albums. Tracks 1,4,8 in version A, 2,5,7 in version B, 3,6 in version C, etc.

Yeah I just noticed now random other tracks won't download. Considering ditching match. Wonder if I can get a partial refund....since its their error.

Okay, so this in no way guarantees a fix....but I had one album that I have had issues with since day one...and still had issues with the second time around...and now it appears to have worked. What I did was wipe out iTunes Match again, refresh it so it shows No Items in iCloud. Then I deleted my iTunes library in full and created a new one. Imported music in and rematched. I was able to download the entire album in question without issue. Now, for all I know a different album will have issues, but aside from downloading every one of my tracks to see if it works, I have no way of knowing for sure.

Anyone have any answers yet? I'm getting this message on quite a few songs now too. Not happy with Itunes Match at all!

I haven't. I turned it off and loaded up manually. I may try to take my laptop and phone to the apple store this weekend if I get time and see what they say.

I just tried on my iPad. Same result.

Since there are other threads about this same issue, I think it's Apple, not us.

So here's what I seem to be having success with. At the time of this writing, there is still one song that does it's "loopy download", gets to 2/3 way around, then backs out and tries again.

I should also mention that I am no longer jailbroken. Some/all of my preferred tweaks drank my battery like it was a winecooler at prom.

1. On my PC, I cleared my library, deleted from iCloud, kept my files.
2. Updated iTunes Match
3. Wait. Went to get dinner.
4. Dragged the contents of my library to iTunes, waited for iTunes to process.
5. Update iTunes Match.
6. Wait some more.
7. Went to my 4S, downloaded music.
8. Cursed at iTunes Match, then wrote down the albums that weren't behaving.
9. There's 46 albums that I had to manually process.
10. Removed those 46 albums from my library, deleted from iCloud, kept my files.
11. Updated iTunes Match.
12. Wait. Went to the car dealer to have new tires and a strut installed.
13. Pulled down music on my phone.

This isn't full-proof. As I said, there's one song that won't download yet, so I'm completely doing the above steps 10-13 all over again.

I hope that's over help to someone.

Ran across this as iTunes wasn't letting me dl Cloud songs and I had forgotten the fix. What always seems to work for me is going to iTunes -- Store Menu -- Turn off iTunes Match...waiting 10 minutes...then turning it back on. Sounds like maybe that didn't work for some folks above, but fwiw for anyone else landing on this thread...

For you guys who are having a hell of a time downloading that one song or album, a suggestion that I hope at very least saves you [hours of?] time and hassle, maybe a little sanity...find the Contact Us inside the iTunes Store and send Apple a note saying xyz song won't re-download from Cloud. I find them to be very responsive with any song issues I have. Chances are good they'll issue you a credit to just buy that song again. Serenity now! :D (I'd delete that song file completely before purchasing it again, though.)

Or if you've just plain had it and want to take the express route, just buy the song again. Done.
