So my church has decided to jump into the 4k world. As the primary editor, I know my current iMac can handle it.

Late 2013
3.2 i5 Quad
24gb ram
Boot off a 240 SSD external
1 GB dedicated card.

But it bothers me that I can't actually see the 4k file I'm working with on my iMac. I think I could get around $900 for my iMac currently.

Is jumping up to this worth the extra $800 dollars?

2014
  • 27" Retina 5K IPS Display
  • 5120 x 2880 Native Resolution
  • 3.5 GHz Intel Core i5 (Haswell)
  • 8GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
  • 1TB Fusion Drive
  • AMD Radeon M290X GPU (2GB GDDR5)
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 2x Thunderbolt 2 and 4x USB 3.0 Ports
  • FaceTime HD Camera, Dual Mics, Speakers
  • Mac OS X 10.10 or 10.11

I would push the ram again to 24 GB. This is a current special at BH.
